Do you have problems getting certain rooms warm or cool enough? Often, newly added rooms can prove difficult to heat or cool, especially with traditional forced-air systems. Extending your ductwork to reach these new rooms can be expensive. Ductless mini splits provide an affordable and efficient solution for these and other situations where ducts aren’t practical.
Ductless mini splits work on a simple premise: an outdoor compressor/condenser unit generates conditioned air that’s sent indoors to an air handler unit via a ductless conduit. The air handler has its own thermostat so you can control the temperatures in each room or area where an air handler is located. You can have up to four different air handlers attached to a single compressor/condenser, each with its own temperature settings.
The conduit also houses the power cable, condensate drain and tubing. Because it doesn’t rely on ducts to distribute your air, none leaks out, making ductless mini splits very efficient.
Because you can control each air handler independently, you can establish different temperatures in different parts of your house. This is convenient because various occupants rarely agree on what the ideal temperature setting should be. This also helps you conserve energy because you simply turn the air handler off when an area is unoccupied.
Ductless mini splits are adaptable and can be installed in a number of different ways. There are floor-standing models available or you can mount them to the wall or hang them from the ceiling. They often come with high-tech jackets to make them look more attractive. Most modern systems also come equipped with remote controls to make it even easier to adjust the settings from anywhere in the room.
The installation process goes by quickly as all that’s required is a small hole in the wall of each room with an air handler, to slide the conduit through.
